National School Lunch Week, 2016

Presidential Proclamation

"As we observe the 70th anniversary of this program, we recommit to ensuring access to proper nutrition throughout the school day for all our young people so that they may pursue their education and chase their dreams.

We must also work to give children greater access to nutritious foods and empower them to make healthy choices. Too many young people are obese or overweight and remain at risk for health problems like diabetes or heart disease later in life.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, BARACK OBAMA, President of the United States of America, do hereby proclaim October 9 through October 15, 2016, as National School Lunch Week. I call upon all Americans to join the dedicated individuals who administer the National School Lunch Program in appropriate activities that support the health and well-being of our Nation's children.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this seventh day of October, in the year of our Lord two thousand sixteen, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and forty-first."

Here at RGCCISD,

We serve approximately 9,400 lunches per DAY! That does not include breakfast or supper meals...only LUNCH!

During the month of September 2016, we served a little over 200,300 LUNCHES!

We service students at 18 sites - including Immaculate Conception School & the Starr County Juvenile Detention Center.

The NSLW 2016 theme is "Show Your Spirit" It's about sharing the best, real images of today's school lunch-fresh fruits and veggies, whole grains, milk, and smiling students.

We are so glad so many students joined us in celebrating National School Lunch Week with school meals the week of October 10-14!
